Little Miss Muffet

The classic nursery rhyme with three new verses

This is an original song based on the short ‘Little Miss Muffet’ nursery rhyme.
The origins of the classic song are unknown but it was first printed in 1805 like this:

Little Miss Muffet
Sat on a tuffet,
Eating her curds and whey;
There came a big spider,
Who sat down beside her
And frightened Miss Muffet away.

What is a tuffet?
A tuffet is a tuft of grass, more commonly called a tussock. A small footstool can also be called a tuffet, named after the rhyme.

What are curds and whey?
When something acidic like vinegar or lemon juice is added to milk, it separates into solid curds and liquid whey. This can be eaten as a Miss Muffet style snack but is more commonly a stage of the cheese-making process.

This new song is in the style of a relaxing lullaby and includes three more original verses which lead to Miss Muffet and the spider eventually becoming friends.

Lyrics:
Little Miss Muffet
sat on a tuffet
eating her lovely curds and whey
along came a spider and sat down beside her
and frightened miss muffet away

Poor little spider
was an outsider
sat on his own one day
along came miss muffet and sat on a tuffet
and frightened the spider away

Little Miss Muffet
sat on a tuffet
sharing her lovely curds and whey
with her friend the spider
sat down beside her
together they had a nice day

Little miss and spider
playing seek and hider
on a super sunny summer day
one counting up to ten, the other hiding well and then
they had a little snooze at midday
