Ten in the Bed

There were ten in the bed and the little one said roll over! The classic counting nursery rhyme made with a bed full of teddies

The origins of this song are unknown although most versions end each verse with “one fell out”. The second part of the verse varies, one version uses the line “tie a knot in your suspenders” and many other versions probably exist, probably spread around the world by children at summer camps. I first heard this “tie a knot in your pyjamas” version during a long school trip coach journey.

Lyrics:
There were ten in the bed and the little one said
roll over
roll over
so they all rolled over and one fell out
bumped his head and gave a little shout
please remember
to tie a knot in your pyjamas
single beds are only made for
one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine

There were nine in the bed and the little one said
roll over
roll over
so they all rolled over and one fell out
bumped his head and gave a little shout
please remember
to tie a knot in your pyjamas
single beds are only made for
one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight

There were eight in the bed and the little one said
roll over
roll over
so they all rolled over and one fell out
bumped his head and gave a little shout
please remember
to tie a knot in your pyjamas
single beds are only made for
one, two, three, four, five, six, seven

There were seven in the bed and the little one said
roll over
roll over
so they all rolled over and one fell out
bumped his head and gave a little shout
please remember
to tie a knot in your pyjamas
single beds are only made for
one, two, three, four, five, six

There were six in the bed and the little one said
roll over
roll over
so they all rolled over and one fell out
bumped his head and gave a little shout
please remember
to tie a knot in your pyjamas
single beds are only made for
one, two, three, four, five

There were five in the bed and the little one said
roll over
roll over
so they all rolled over and one fell out
bumped his head and gave a little shout
please remember
to tie a knot in your pyjamas
single beds are only made for
one, two, three, four

There were four in the bed and the little one said
roll over
roll over
so they all rolled over and one fell out
bumped his head and gave a little shout
please remember
to tie a knot in your pyjamas
single beds are only made for
one, two, three

There were three in the bed and the little one said
roll over
roll over
so they all rolled over and one fell out
bumped his head and gave a little shout
please remember
to tie a knot in your pyjamas
single beds are only made for
one, two

There were two in the bed and the little one said
roll over
roll over
so they all rolled over and one fell out
bumped his head and gave a little shout
please remember
to tie a knot in your pyjamas
single beds are only made for one

There was one in the bed and the little one said
I'm lonely
I'm lonely
so they all jumped up and got back in

There were ten in the bed and the little one said
night night
